The Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management of Kumasi Technical University Business School trains students in Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain management to meet the needs of industry and the public sector.

The department commenced in the 1993/1994 academic year as Department of Marketing and Purchasing and Supply, with an Initial enrolment of 40 students and total staff strength of three members. The three members of staff were Messrs J. K. Hasford, Joseph Opoku and Charles Boakye. In the 1996/1997 academic year, the Department of Purchasing and Supply became a full-fledged department. Its name changed to the Department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management in the 2014/2015 academic year. Since its inception, the department has trained highly skilled and competent personnel for various positions in both the private and public sectors in commerce, industry, health, education and other sectors.

The total student population as of the 2021/2022 academic year (both regular and parallel) stood at 1030. The department can boast of highly competent and dedicated staff. Currently, we have Twelve (12) Full-time teaching staff out of which Eight (8) are senior Lecturers. The department can boast of one (1) assistant registrar. Two (2) of the staff are on study leave. The department has been supported by Eight (8) part-time lecturers and servicing lecturers from other departments in the university.

To position the department as a centre of excellence in the provision of competence-based education in procurement, logistics and supply chain management within a university that seeks to be a world-class technical university devoted to science, technology, and entrepreneurship education.

Mission 

The mission of the department of Procurement and Supply Chain Management is consistent with the Kumasi Technical University’s (KsTU) mission: To provide quality teaching, learning and research in Business and Management. Particularly in, Procurement, Logistics, and Supply Chain Manage­ment field to promote science, technology, and entrepreneurship to drive industrial development in Ghana.
