About Department of Accountancy and Accounting Information System (AAIS)
The accountancy and Accounting Information Systems (AAIS) is one of the largest departments in the University in terms of students, lecturer numbers and courses run in the Institution. The Department used to be called Accountancy Department in the early days of the Polytechnic era and the new name is in line with the trend in the accountancy profession and needs at the industry, where the information technology and communication are ruling now.
This called for the Department to infuse software applications in the programme to boost the confidence of graduates at the work place and make them ready for employability. The Department continues to place a premium on staff development and over the years, several lecturers have attained their terminal degrees (PhD).
The Department currently runs the following programmes:
- Master of Technology Accounting with Computing
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting with Informatics
- Higher National Diploma Accounting with Computing
- Diploma in Computerized Accounting
